Trump Mobile's Terms Suggest Phones May Never Arrive

The T1 Phone: A Gold-Colored Dream Delayed

A gold-colored mobile phone bearing the name of former President Donald Trump has been in development for nearly a year, yet its release date remains uncertain. The T1 Phone, announced in June 2025 by Trump's sons Donald Jr. and Eric, was intended to be a flagship product for users of the Trump Mobile wireless plan. The company began accepting $100 deposits for the phone, which was listed at a total "promotional price" of $499, during the same month.

Despite an initial delivery date set for August 2025, the device has not shipped. The release has faced multiple delays since then, with no official date announced as of May 2026. The Trump Mobile website still directs customers to a waitlist for the T1 Phone, although the phone appears slightly different from the one introduced with the launch of Trump Mobile.

What is the T1 Phone?

In June 2025, the T1 Phone was described as "a sleek, gold smartphone engineered for performance and proudly designed and built in the United States." However, any mention of the phone being built in the USA was removed shortly after the announcement. As of now, the Trump Mobile website states that the phone was "designed with American values in mind" and "shaped by American innovation."

According to the Trump Mobile website, the T1 Phone will feature a 6.78-inch touchscreen display, a 50-megapixel main camera, a quick-charge battery, and a fingerprint sensor, among other features. It will also run on the Android Operating System.

A current product illustration (which is subject to change) shows the gold-colored T1 Phone with an American flag inscribed on the back, directly above the words "Trump Mobile."

No Guarantee of Release

It is unclear how many customers have preordered T1 Phones and paid the $100 deposits, though a recent report from the International Business Times estimates it at "around 600,000." However, these deposits are completely refundable if customers choose not to wait.

The terms and conditions state that "Estimated ship dates, launch timelines, or anticipated production schedule are non-binding estimates only." The site also indicates that the phone may never be released at all.

"Trump Mobile does not guarantee that: the Device will be commercially released; regulatory approvals (including FCC authorization) will be obtained; carrier certification will be secured; production will commence or continue; or delivery will occur within any specific timeframe," the terms and conditions read.

Customers wishing to cancel their deposit or request a refund can contact Trump Mobile customer support at (888) 878-6745. Refunds will also be issued if Trump Mobile "cancels or discontinues the Device offering prior to sale," the site says.

Should customers wish to proceed in the hope of eventually receiving their T1 Phones, their deposit does not "lock in" the promotional price either. "Final pricing and offers will be disclosed at the time of purchase, and you will have the opportunity to accept or reject the final terms before completing your purchase," according to Trump Mobile.

Is the T1 Phone Still in the Works?

Despite the lack of concrete information or timing on the release of the phone, USA Today reported that the initiative may indeed be moving forward. In March, the T1 phone received PTCRB certification, meaning it confirms to specific network compatibility standards in North America, according to the outlet.

The Trump Mobile wireless plan is currently accepting customers using other phones, including refurbished Apple or Samsung phones offered at the Trump Mobile site. A representative for the company said Monday that people who wish to switch carriers to Trump Mobile can confirm their devices’ compatibility by contacting customer service.
