Jeff Probst's Younger Brother Scott Passes Away: 'A Great Brother, Son and Friend'
Scott Probst, the younger brother of Jeff Probst, the long-time host of Survivor, has passed away. His death was announced by their older brother, Brent, who shared the news on social media. "Some sad news," he wrote, "our brother Scott is no longer with us. He was a great brother, son and friend. I will miss him so much. I'm so sad he is gone."
Scott had been involved in the production of Survivor for several seasons, working behind the scenes in the camera and art departments. His career also extended into other areas, including video games. While his contributions to the show were not as visible as his brother's, they were no less significant.
The Probst family has experienced multiple losses in recent years. Their mother, Barb, passed away in November 2024. At the time, Brent shared a heartfelt tribute on social media, describing her as "the best mom, grandma and just a fantastic person full of love and life." He noted that she had been receiving full-time care for dementia and died just one week before her 86th birthday.
Despite the difficult circumstances, Brent remembered the good times they shared with their mother. "She had a great life and I am certain that I am a good person because she and my dad raised me with love and humor," he wrote. "I will miss her every single day for the rest of my life."
Barb was a huge fan of Survivor, and her passing was acknowledged by the show itself. In an episode, a placard read: "Dedicated to Barb, the biggest Survivor fan of all time. See you on our next adventure."

Jeff Probst, the eldest of the three brothers, has been the face of Survivor since its debut in 2000. Now 64, he has spoken about the impact the show has had on his life. In a February interview with Entertainment Weekly, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of the series, which has allowed him to balance his career with being a family man.
Jeff and his wife, Lisa Ann Russell, married in 2011. Together, they have two children from her previous marriage to Saved by the Bell actor Mark-Paul Gosselaar. Reflecting on his career, Jeff said, "Survivor is the greatest thing that's ever happened to me in my career and really a giant part of my life. Just trying to figure out how to be a human, and a good person, or a good parent, or a good partner."
He added, "So I definitely had a couple of moments right before we started the show where I kept reminding myself: Man, you've been out here for two and a half decades doing this. So it's been cool. I'm super proud to be a part of Survivor."

The Probst family has always been close, and their shared experiences in the entertainment industry have brought them together in unique ways. From the behind-the-scenes work of Scott to the on-camera presence of Jeff, each member has contributed to the legacy of Survivor in their own way.
As the family mourns the loss of Scott, they also continue to honor the memory of their mother, Barb, whose love and support were instrumental in shaping the lives of her sons. The Probst name remains deeply connected to Survivor, not just through Jeff’s role as host, but through the entire family’s involvement in the show’s history.
