Chace Crawford spills on Gossip Girl romances
Chace Crawford Shares Insights on Gossip Girl Romance Rumors
Chace Crawford, best known for his role as Chuck Bass on Gossip Girl, recently opened up about the romantic dynamics among the cast during the show’s run from 2007 to 2012. The actor addressed rumors that he may have dated any of his co-stars, including Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Ed Westwick, and Taylor Momsen.
During an appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast on May 11, Chace acknowledged that there were moments of connection among the cast members. “Yeah, there's things that happen or connections that happen,” he said. However, he quickly clarified, “I never dated anyone on the show.”
Despite this denial, Chace hinted at a different kind of relationship. He mentioned that while he didn’t pursue romantic relationships with the core cast, he did engage in casual encounters with guest stars. “There's a lot of guest stars and people in the orbit of the show that you'd meet through other friends even,” he explained. “And I remember that was a way to meet people.”
This revelation aligns with previous comments Chace made on the Call Her Daddy podcast in 2024, where he suggested that he had been involved with someone from the Gossip Girl universe. “I would say those things are inevitable,” he shared. “When you're in your 20s...the thing is you're on these things—people probably think it's these sexy scenes or whatever, that's like the worst part of it, with 60 people watching. It's the downtime. You're doing this show, you're on set for like 12-14 hours a day and usually there's some pretty interesting people from all walks of life.”
A Social Life Beyond the Set
Chace compared his experience on Gossip Girl to a college environment, highlighting the vibrant social life that came with being part of the show. “There's a lot of actors and people coming onto the show, over the years,” he said. “And I was fortunate enough to have in the city a really good friend group. And everyone else has their little friend group. So you meet people in that wider circle, it's not just that tiny little circle. There's a lot of people involved.”
This broader network allowed him to connect with various individuals, both within and outside the show’s immediate circle. Chace emphasized that the cast wasn’t isolated; instead, they were part of a larger community that included guest stars, crew members, and other industry professionals.

Romantic Connections Among Co-Stars
While Chace denied having a romantic relationship with any of the main cast, he did acknowledge that some of his co-stars found love on set. For example, Blake Lively and Penn Badgley, Jessica Szohr and Ed Westwick, and Leighton Meester and Sebastian Stan all became a couple during the show’s run.
Chace playfully admitted that he had kept secrets about these relationships. “I absolutely have kept secrets about other people who found romance on set,” he said, hinting at the behind-the-scenes dynamics that weren’t always public knowledge.
